I admire the FDA for holding off the release of life-saving drugs in the U.S. when they have been proven in European countries.
I find their "Fast Track" system of approving such drugs as Viagra and Cialis in weeks instead of years to be genius.
Once again, they have the consumer safety as their #1 priority.
"Seen any walnuts in your medicine cabinet lately? According to the Food and Drug Administration, that is precisely where you should find them. Because Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts that the FDA didn’t approve, it sent the company a letter declaring, “Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.” The agency even threatened Diamond with “seizure” if it failed to comply."

This is what happens when the government is watching us too closely but no one watches the government.
We should stop "what's next" instead of finding out after the fact.
Too much power + not enough oversight = our current govt!Dit is wat er gebeurt als de overheid ons te nauwlettend in de gaten houdt, maar niemand de overheid in de gaten houdt.
We moeten stoppen met "wat nu de volgende stap is" in plaats van het achteraf uit te zoeken.
Te veel macht + te weinig toezicht = onze huidige regering!
