  • gjr1961,

I think the only reason I am able to stick to a time limit is, I worked in the business for so many years.  Yes, it is very tempting to say just 5 or 10 minutes more, but then there would be no reason for setting a time limit.  I think everyone is capable of gaming money management; one just has to find the best way individually.

This is such a good question and a good way to try-out something new that just might work for some LCB'ers that haven't found there check and balance point!   Again, Thank-you LCB!

    Good luck to you!

Day 3 - Tips do you have for sticking to a gambling budget?

I hate to even admit it, but if I really want to stick to my gambling budget, I take Joe, my better half, literally!

He is always trying to find a way to save or increase our net worth.

He would never let me go to the atm, in fact, he would be carrying all the credit cards.

He would encourage me to move on and try something else if I were losing at a particular game.

He also has a 'time out' for when both of us are losing.   We will leave the casino floor, go get a bite, do a little shoping, maybe even just go to the bar, have a drinik and do some people watching.   The point is to get away for a short time and shake off the bad luck, if possible.   Then, retun to the casino.

I know that not everyone can do this, especially if their better half isn't really better!

In that case, don't try this, but take someone like this!

Great advice! You are the winner and will be added to prize sra

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?  so what could be the Council, my opinion why do marry then unnecessary problems in the future, divorce, children, division of property, to live in a civil marriage that's my advice,

  • my advice is to not marry too soon

all big problems start after get married

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?

We take marriage seriously in our country.  No return, no exchange, so to speak cause we don't have any divorce law here and annulment of marriage is costly and takes a long time.

So if you are going to marry, you must know your partner really well. Know what he/she likes and dislikes and in return, she/he must also know what your likes and dislikes.   But we all know that the heart always takes over any considerations you have.   So on to marriage you go....and two things make a marriage last. . .. 1) Trust and , 2) when you are wrong, apologize and when you are right, shut up!  :)

  • Day 4 : My advices

-Abandoning celibacy habits, such as stay up at night with friends and mess in the house.

-Get used to share the interests and habits of your partner.

-Avoiding the failure to carry out social obligations.

-Don't insult your partner, as this would lead to the killing of the marital relationship.

-You will marry a human, so he has some defects and he will do some mistakes. Marital life is a similar picture of the reality of human life.

-The couple must use joking and playing style to avoid boredom and isolation.

-Beware of living on one style, nothing kills the love between the couple except life on routine.

-The capital of a successful marriage is for sure the affection and respect together.

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?

We all need a soft place to land.   Someone you can be with when things are great, when you have good news.  Someone you can count on, when nothing is going well or when something terrible happens.   Someone who knows everything about you and loves you anyway, just the way you are.   Someone that is always there nomatter what and is always on your side, even when your wrong.   Someone you can tell anything to.  Someone that make you feel safe and protected.  Someone who knows what you need or you can ask for anything and they will happily fulfill those needs.  Someone that gets you!

If this describes your relationship, by all means, get married!

For better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live. Yeah, same thing!

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?

Don't do it !! lol. There is nothing wrong just living with the one you love. it seems now a days getting married don't last long .

    thanks and good luck  :)

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?

Marriage - is like a process of building bridge on the opposite banks
    of the river.
You should strive to meet each other, trying to build your side of it
as well as your other half should.
Your bridge must be connected in the middle and should be symmetrical,
    strong and beautiful.

Remember always that you’re on the same team. Whatever challenges you come up against, fight them together, and rejoice together over the victories. NEVER allow the enemy to divide you.

    And LOVE, LOVE, LOVE  heartkissedkiss

  • day 4 advice to couple...

never go to bed angry at one another.  whatever the turmoil is do not let it fester,  talk about and resolve the issue.  you'll wake up feeling like you have a partner no matter what.

  • Day 4 - What advice would you give to a couple who is about to get married?

I would tell them to be sure that you completely trust each other before you are married.

I think that a root to a good marriage lies in honesty. Any dishosesty is going to cause a problem. Honestly be who you really are and not who you think your spouse wants you to be. If you have questions, ask them; always give honest answers. It can be very difficult at times, but well worth it in the end. It is much easier to deal with any  issue if you both know the entire situation. If the trust is there, this makes being honest an easie thing to do

When I was married, I loved my late husband unconditionally and he felt the same way about me. No matter what he did (and he did a WHOLE LOT!) it didn't change the fact that I was still in love with him. I found this out the hard way. I would get fed up with his behavior and he would leave, but we always ended up together again. After about 15 years of this, I accepted that we we were meant to be together. We had another 10 years, where I lived my life with the knowledge that no matter what else happened, even with very few possessions, we had each other and felt lucky because of this.

Sadly, he passed away 14 years ago this week; only days before our 25th anniversary.

  •                                   day 4       The advice I give to anyone who tells me they're getting married.......

"BE GOOD TO EACH OTHER ! "

sometimes I add  "LIFT EACH OTHER UP,  NEVER EVER TEAR EACH OTHER DOWN."

  • Day 5 - Which laptop brand do you think is the best and would recommend?

I Have a  Gateway   that i bought at best buy. I have had it for almost 8 years and still running strong. When i bought my laptop it came with 6 months of KasperSky protection free which we still have now on all computers. It came with a quick processor and about 6 GB. I only paid about $550. To make your laptop last longer invest in some fans for under your laptop. The fans will keep your laptop cool and to not over heat.

I also have a google chromebook which is way different from a laptop, you can download apps and you login with your gmail addy.  it is pretty cool and different even though it looks like a laptop. This only cost around $300.

thank you and good luck everyone.

  • I have a relatively new Lenovo Ideapad and I think it is great. It comes with all sorts of features, some of them, I haven't even used. There is a feature where I can use my voice to search or to direct my laptop on what I would like to do next. It is simple to operate. It comes with a user manual right on the task bar, including information on how to use Windows 10, which is great for me because I had been using Windows 7 and they are quite different. It also comes with a new browser, Microsoft Edge, which works better than Chrome on newer website layouts.

It was not the cheapest model, but far from the most expensive. I could afford it and that is one of the best thing about it. I am not a serious gamer, so while the processer is not huge, it serves all of my needs in a laptop. It may not be the best one on the market, but for the price, I think it is a great value and perfect for me.

  • Which laptop brand do you think is the best and would recommend?  I use Dell. Cheaper then some other brands and quick for the amount i spent. I enjoy it.

  • I have an ASUS.

I buy ASUS because there is a great chance of getting high quality

I have it over year now and it works great. Laptop was cheaper then Toshiba and other but I got much better configuration then I would get with Toshiba for example.

LCD is also fantastic. Image is unbelievable good.

    For Gaming I recommend Asus!

  • Day 5 - Which laptop brand do you think is the best and would recommend?

I will choose ASUS, like aelen.

ASUS offers high-quality laptops at a mid-range price to a more expensive price range. I would say that this Windows 10 laptop is probably a fairly good one for its price: there's enough hard-drive space and processing power to be sufficient for most needs, and can also be used for gaming if you're interested (though I would recommend a desktop ;)

The laptops offered are more or less suited to the price, and you will get what you ask for. If you're not looking for much, then there are the low-price alternatives (<=$200) which although are not as powerful can get the job done perfectly well. This makes ASUS's products affordable and price-efficient.

They offer customer/tech service over the telephone, live chat, online (through searching or via email) or Twitter if you require it, which is obviously essential for a laptop company.

I recommend getting the Asus Zenbook UX305 if you can afford it. It's definitely on the higher-end side of the available 'laptop spectrum' and would be a great buy. It should also come with a warranty that covers accidental damage, so that would be a plus if you're clumsy!

  • Day 5 - Which laptop brand do you think is the best and would recommend?

I have owned many different brands of laptops over the years: MacBook. Toshiba, Dell. Acer, Hp, Lenovo, and a Samsung. I currently own 3 different brands: Toshiba, Dell, and HP.

The one I favor and use daily is my Hewlett Packard. HPs are absolutely the most versitile and inclusive laptops, in my opinion. There is no lag or drag with 3D virtual gaming, their support is second to none, media streams seamlessly, and operation is simple and straight forward.

  • In the past i used to go through laptops like twice a year. Dells, Hp, Toshiba, Asus etc.   Then I seen my Boss had a Macbook Pro.  They are a bit pricey so I Scoured through Craigslist looking for one within the budget I set to pay. $500.  After about five or six weeks I was finally able to haggle this guy down but he lived like 70miles from where i am.  He said it was 17" but when i got there i noticed it was 15" .  I got it anyways.  I've had it for about four going on five years.  It's beat up but it's yet to crash and i'm on it almost eveyday.  It is heavy compared to newer laptops and there is the macpro air, but for the price i got it for i am a happy camper.

  • Day 5

When I was little bit younger  with more passion I looked in specifications or even brand wich one is now on  top. I have Asus something like 2 years already and I cannot say nothing bad about this model. Why Asus? is always cheaper then higher stuff like HP. Before shopping is important to have a look for how long battery can hold on, motherboard definitelly MSI. Its better to choose brand what is popular then price will be lower. I have bad expieriences with Toshiba.

Asus middle prices for good quality

  • Day 6:

     Malwarebytes

  • I like AVG, a couple of years ago, my laptop got a virus. Nothing I found would take it off. Finally I found AVG, downloaded it for FREE and it fix all the issues and removed the virus.  That was a great day, lol. gl all.thumbs_up

  • What is the best FREE security software?

This is a tough question, I think.  The free versions of any software do not include all the goodies you would get with a purchased version.  But my vote is for Avast.  I have used this software for several years now and blended with some other types of security software (malware, firewall, etc.) it has worked perfectly for my needs.

It needs a bit of tweaking at first, but once I got it dialed in, I am very pleased with its performance.  I do have to admitt I am a sucker for anything free, but so far, Avast has not let me down.  I definitely would recommend this to everyone.

  • Day 6

    AVG  FREE

    10/10

First thing about this antyvir is where its came from - originally from Chech Republic. Why? Is probably neutral and is created without any other functions what can steal your privacy in high level. I believe there are not only legends or just talk about people who created and sale antiviruses but also viruses, roots, spywhares, trolls.. to get good cas. In Europe is not so much but China or Rusia ( without namer of antyviruses)  Second things about only software side the most of antyviruses makes more heavy ower comp and get slower and slower. About start up system even dont want tocomment. Nearly everybody the same ironic smile now. AVC winning the race cause dont take for temporary temp files  memory RAM what is very reasonablle to stay away ffrom Avast, Mc cafe, Kaspersky or Norton. Do You think yoor defend is perfect when You install " full package" include search baar, and sofware cleaner and only God knows what else?! System should be reinstalled once in 3 monhs to not loose paramethers what get used and slower for example hard disk or RAM. AVG FREE = number one for me from 10 years already

  • I've been using Avast for a long time now.  Though the full version in not that free inthe sense of the word.  But the free version have help me eliminate those viruses that comes in when I download some files.  . Though the full scan is very slow and can't use the other components without purshasing, the fact that it helps me identify the threat is wonderful enough.  I can search and download other anti-virus that are free to eliminate those intruders.

  • In my opinion, The best free security software is "Avira Free Antivirus". It's product of german company. I used it since many years and never attacked by virus or trojan. It's very light on my PC. I think because it does not take much RAM memory while it is functioning. It receives automatically the update of its company. It's very famous and it is a solid competitor for the known paid softwares. I strongly recommended it.

  • Avira Free Antivirus..... its Fasts effective and discreet

  • Day 6 - What is the best FREE security software?

I would recommand paying for security on your computer. We have Kaspersky and it only costs around $50 - $60 a year. That is a small price to pay for security if you do online banking  or buying stuff. If i had to pick a free one i would pick AVG.

thanks and good luck everyone.  :)

  • I use ccleaner and do a clean almost every night. I use the free version and it has worked great.

After my laptop got a very nasty virus that locked me out of my programs, i took my PC to be repaired. The tech had to wipe my system clean and then re download my windows. After he did, i asked him about security and he said ccleaner was all i needed. It has worked great ever since and that was a few years ago.

  • Day 6 - What is the best FREE security software?

It's got to be Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Even as a free program, it serves its use sufficiently, and at a face pace. The scans on my computer (which cover around 750 GB worth of data) take about an hour to do, but the program usually finds it within the first half of the scanning process. When you download it, you receive a free trial for the pro version which blocks access live and has a couple other features that are useful (website blocking, scheduling, etc.)

Though don't let this turn you away! The free version is great even on its own and can attack malware as well as PUPs, which are Potentially Unwanted Programs. It's definitely worth having on your computer even if you have other antivirus programs because MAM usually catches obscure ones that other AV programs overlook.

  • Day 6 - What is the best FREE security software?

I pay for my securitysoftware so I looked to the internet to provide answers to this question:)

    AVIRA FREE ANTIVIRUS
    Best Free Overall PC Antivirus
    8/10
    TOTALLY WORTH IT

    REVIEW
    DOWNLOAD NOW
Avira offers very strong protection against both widespread and zero-day malware. Its austere but option-packed interface can be intimidating at first, and slower computers might see a performance hit during active scans. However, Avira Free Antivirus' sheer effectiveness, high degree of customization and wide range of free add-on features — including a VPN client and a privacy-minded Web browser — make it our Editor's Choice.

    BITDEFENDER ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION
    Close Runner-Up
    8/10
    TOTALLY WORTH IT

    REVIEW
    DOWNLOAD NOW
Bitdefender's malware-detection rate is second to none. The company's free antivirus product covers all the basics, offers a very low system-performance impact and, with free add-on software, provides such useful extras as a secure browser and a limited password manager. But Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition's bare-bones interface is hard to figure out and offers no customization options — you can't even schedule a scan. It is software that's best for users who want a set-it-and-forget-it security solution.

  • day 7 Fury (film). April 1945. The Third Reich is crumbling, but the German soldiers were still desperately resisting the advancing Allies. Hardened in battle sergeant Don Collier nicknamed Wardaddy ( «Dad"), who fought with the Germans still in Africa, commanding a tank "Sherman" (M4A3E8) and his crew of five. [2] The crew suffered loss - gunner was killed. In place of his subordination to send rookie Don - Norman Ellison, who served previously on the staff. Norman is right on the front line, where face-to-face with the horrors of war. The rookie is not ready to kill. Thus, during the movement of armored columns Norman sees a German Panzerfaust armed, but did not shoot at him. The enemy attacks the tower, set fire to the car in front, but the Allies destroy the attackers. • What one movie would you recommend to a friend that they absolutely must see?

With this question only one movie came to mind and it is, "Shawshank Redemption".

This movie is (to me) one of the all time best movies ever made!  If any LCB'ers haven't had the pleasure to see this incrediable movie, then by all means, rent, buy, or borrow, it A.S.A.P.!   You will not be disappointed because this movie has something for everyone.

In fact after answering this question, I realized it has been a while since I last watched it; so I'm off to enjoy it again!

    Good Luck Everyone,

  • Gone with the Wind

Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American epic historical romance film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone with the Wind. It was produced by David O. Selznick of Selznick International Pictures and directed by Victor Fleming. Set in the American South against the backdrop of the American Civil War and Reconstruction era, the film tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara, the strong-willed daughter of a Georgia plantation owner, from her romantic pursuit of Ashley Wilkes, who is married to his cousin, Melanie Hamilton, to her marriage to Rhett Butler. The leading roles are portrayed by Vivien Leigh (Scarlett), Clark Gable (Rhett), Leslie Howard (Ashley), and Olivia de Havilland (Melanie).

  • I've become addicted to series so I don't watch a lot of movies anymore, but one movie that stands out that I could watch over & over again is "Goodfellas". It follows the life of gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) as he tries to climb his way to the top of the mob. It also stars Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci, and together with Liotta, they portray the typical mobster perfectly!
